NEW WORK RECENTLY ADDED!
Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Yohji Yamamoto, Versace = Inspiration. After years working in NYC and the fashion industry, I relocated to the Pocono Mountains of North East Pennsylvania where I now live with my gorgeous Brit hubby and I spend my time creating. Monthly trips back into Brooklyn & NYC to visit galleries and studios continue to energize me and provide fuel for my studio practice which mixes traditional fine art materials with cloth and construction process from haute couture tailoring.
I reference old tailoring patterns because they are a process and plan for describing three-dimensional form on a two-dimensional plane, which echos the Cubist vision of showing an object from all vantage points, all at the same time. I piece these shapes together on canvas, “sewn” together with paint and textile. The tailoring design elements provide a compositional structure to hang my gestural mark-making on.
My studio practice consists of three main themes which all are tied to fashion: Deconstructed, Threads and Construct. I usually have several pieces in each theme underway in my studio and move between them as I engage with the works depending on my mood.
