A Minor Scandal in Excellent Taste is an original mixed-media painting by contemporary artist Susan Washington, where classical elegance meets the playful irreverence of contemporary street culture.

A classical figure in profile is layered with distressed imagery, expressive black marks, and fragments of urban-inspired collage. A bright pink band cuts across the eyes, while a graffiti-style smiley face and small pink heart introduce humor and unexpected tenderness into the composition.

Part of Washington's evolving Subway Sonnets series, the painting explores what happens when timeless ideals of beauty and refinement encounter the spontaneous, imperfect language of the modern city.
