Original Contemporary Figurative Mixed-Media Painting with Silver Leaf | 30 × 40 Inches

Divine by Design is a one-of-a-kind original mixed-media painting by contemporary artist Susan Washington. Featuring a classical sculptural figure against a luminous silver-leaf background, the work combines expressive black graffiti-inspired marks, distressed layers, and bold pink typography. Presented in a silver float frame.

Part of Washington's Subway Sonnets series, the painting explores the intersection of classical beauty and contemporary urban culture. Inspired by the weathered posters, graffiti, and layered surfaces of 1980s New York City, the work transforms an ancient figure into a contemporary icon, juxtaposing timeless ideals of beauty with the expressive energy of the modern city.
