Divine Rights Reserved

Original Contemporary Mixed-Media Painting | 16 × 20 inches

Classical beauty meets contemporary rebellion in Divine Rights Reserved, an original mixed-media painting by Susan Washington.

A classical female figure emerges from layers of distressed typography, expressive black brushwork, and weathered surfaces. A vivid pink band cuts across her eyes, while fragments of subway signage, a hand-drawn crown, and a small heart introduce the visual language of the modern city.

Part of Washington's evolving Subway Sonnets series, this one-of-a-kind abstract figurative painting explores the collision of ancient ideals and contemporary culture.
