Objects of Desire May Vary

Original Contemporary Mixed-Media Painting | 16 × 20 inches

Ancient ideals of beauty get a contemporary twist in Objects of Desire May Vary, an original mixed-media painting by Susan Washington.

A classical male figure faces left against a layered background of warm neutrals, expressive black marks, and distressed urban imagery. A bold pink band obscures his eyes, while a yellow smiley face, hand-drawn heart, and crown add unexpected humor to the composition.

Part of Washington's Subway Sonnets series, this original abstract figurative artwork combines classical sculpture with the spontaneous visual language of graffiti, torn posters, and contemporary street culture.
