Worship Responsibly

Original Mixed-Media Painting | 24 × 48 inches

Worship Responsibly brings classical beauty into the fractured visual language of the modern city.

A contemplative classical face emerges through layers of black-and-white image transfers, expressive brushwork, and distressed surfaces. Metallic silver leaf catches the light beneath the composition, while bold pink graffiti disrupts the figure's timeless appearance with a distinctly contemporary attitude.

Part of Susan Washington's evolving Subway Sonnets series, the painting places classical ideals of beauty and permanence in conversation with the fleeting, irreverent language of urban culture. Its dramatic four-foot vertical format gives the figure a commanding, almost architectural presence.
